The Utah Federation of College Republicans hosted its Organizing convention at the University of Utah last Saturday. It was a huge success, bringing together passionate students from chapters across the state for an incredible event. Representatives Burgess Owens and Mike Kennedy were key highlights of the convention, delivering insightful speeches that resonated with attendees. Both legislators took the time to connect with students, answering questions and engaging in meaningful discussions about current issues facing the state and the nation.
The turnout was fantastic, with students from all corners of Utah coming together to be part of the event. The convention provided a valuable opportunity for students to network, share ideas, and build connections with like-minded Republicans from different universities and colleges.
During the event, two resolutions were passed. The first resolution expressed strong support for Utah's caucus-convention system, emphasizing its role in preserving grassroots involvement in the state's political process. The second resolution called for the repeal of SB 54, a bill that many attendees felt undermines the integrity of Utah's election process.
In addition to these discussions, new leadership was elected at the convention. Tyler Boyles was elected as Chairman, Riley Beesley as Vice Chairman, and Kaden Call as Executive Director. These leaders are set to guide the Utah Federation of College Republicans in the upcoming year and beyond.
Beyond the resolutions, the event served as a great platform for students to actively engage with their elected officials. Many took the opportunity to ask questions, voice concerns, and learn directly from legislators about their positions on various topics. The convention was not just about politics—it was a chance for students to be inspired, informed, and empowered as they continue to shape the future of the Republican Party in Utah.
