Salt Lake City: Today, the fall of Kabul marks the end of a weeklong takeover of Afghanistan by the Taliban, which is a direct result of President Joe Biden’s hasty, misguided, and disastrous decision to withdraw all United States military assets from the country. While we agree that pulling out is the right choice, the Biden Administration completely botched the withdrawal. Leaving Billions of dollars in weapons behind and most importantly leaving our allies behind.
As Taliban troops enter the capital, U.S. Embassy staff are being evacuated by helicopter in a way that parallels the evacuation of our embassy in Saigon at the end of the Vietnam war. Our country has been utterly embarrassed by yet another foreign policy mistake. Scenes of people flooding the airport trying to leave and holding on to our C-130 aircraft and falling to their deaths because they know the terror that is coming. It is disgraceful and this Administration should be ashamed.
The decision to completely pull out after 20 years, close to a trillion dollars spent, 20,066 American service members who were wounded, and over 2,312 American service members who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty [1].
The fall of Afghanistan can solely be blamed on Biden’s reckless foreign policy decisions that have been seen throughout the past seven months of his presidency. From allowing construction on the Russian Nord Stream 2 Pipeline to move forward without sanctions to working towards renewing the Iranian Nuclear deal even as Iran’s new hardline President refuses to meet with Biden [3].
We severely condemn the actions of the Biden Administration and hold them responsible for any future actions by the Taliban as they once again take power. We pray for the hundreds of Afghan contractors who aided our fight against terror and for the millions of Afghan women who will face severe persecution under a new Taliban regime.
To conclude, President Biden’s leadership has been an embarrassment to the world. He continues to vacation as the crisis unfolds. Biden has failed us at the border as over 100,000 illegal aliens cross the border each month from over 100 different countries. He has allowed the Taliban to retake Afghanistan, but his Administration seems more focused on the
We would like to join the UVU AND BYU CHAPTERS in calling for the resignation of President Joe Biden.
