October 2, 2025 – Amid profound grief following the tragic loss of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot on the Utah Valley University (UVU) campus just three weeks ago, the Utah Federation of College Republicans (UFCR) is honored to announce the official chartering of the College Republicans at UVU. This milestone comes as a beacon of resilience, empowering young Republicans at UVU to carry forward Kirk's unwavering commitment to conservative values, free speech, and campus activism in the face of adversity.
The state board unanimously approved the charter with a 13-0 vote, a powerful affirmation of the chapter's vital role in honoring Kirk's legacy. The incident on September 10, when Kirk was gunned down during a speaking event in the Fountain Courtyard, has left the community in mourning, but it has also ignited a renewed dedication among UVU students. Led by passionate leaders undeterred by this heartbreaking event, the College Republicans at UVU will host events promoting free-market principles, constitutional conservatism, and civic participation—building a robust network of like-minded Wolverines while advocating for enhanced campus security and justice for Kirk.
"We stand with UVU in this time of sorrow, and we're inspired by their resolve to channel this tragedy into action," said UFCR Chairman Tyler Boyles. "Charlie Kirk's fire for liberty lives on through chapters like this one, which will be a powerhouse for conservative voices in Orem and beyond, fostering the next generation of Utah leaders."
Our hearts go out to Charlie's family, Turning Point USA, and all those affected. Stay tuned for memorial events, membership drives, and opportunities to get involved in Kirk's honor. If you're a UVU student ready to make a difference, join the College Republicans today and help ensure his vision endures.
